How to Use 2chanc3s
2chanc3s is a location-based platform for posting and discovering messages in your area. This guide covers the main features.
Setting Your Location
Before browsing or searching, you need to set a location. There are two ways:
Option 1: GPS (Use My Location)
Click the "Use My Location" button to use your device's GPS.
- Your browser will ask for permission to access location
- Works best on mobile devices
- Accuracy varies (shown as ± meters)
Option 2: Enter an Address
Type an address, city, or landmark in the address field and click "Go".
- Works anywhere - no GPS needed
- Great for exploring other areas
- Examples: "Boston, MA", "Findlay Market", "123 Main St"
Adjusting the Radius
Use the "k" slider to control how far you want to see:

Searching Posts
The search field supports several special tokens to filter posts:

Hashtag Search
Prefix with # to search by hashtag:
#food - Find all posts tagged with #food#outdoors #hiking - Find posts with both hashtags
Hashtags are case-insensitive: #Food and #food find the same posts.
Mention Search
Prefix with @ to find posts mentioning a user:
@jon - Find posts that mention @jon
Mentions are case-sensitive: @Jon and @jon are different.
Location Search
Use 📍 followed by a place name to search a specific area:
📍Cincinnati - Search posts near Cincinnati📍"Findlay Market" - Use quotes for multi-word places#food 📍NYC - Food posts in New York City
Combined Searches
Combine multiple tokens for precise results:
#coffee 📍Boston - Coffee posts in Boston@alice #hiking - Posts mentioning @alice with #hiking📍"Central Park" dogs - Posts near Central Park containing "dogs"
Text Search
Any words without #, @, or 📍 are treated as content search:
good morning - Find posts containing "good morning"
Browsing the Feed
After setting a location, posts from nearby will load automatically. The feed shows:
- Most recent posts first
- Posts within your selected radius (k value)
- Username, time, and content for each post
- Images and videos if attached
Interacting with Posts
- Reply: Click "Reply" to open a direct message to the poster
- Map: Click "Map" to see the post's location
- QR Code: Some posts have QR codes for easy sharing
Tips
- Use specific hashtags in your posts to make them easier to find
- Mention other users with
@usernameto get their attention - The more specific your location, the better your results
- Adjust the limit slider to see more or fewer posts at once
